Cat And Genny (Cable Avoidance) Training Course.
BASICS
CAT & Genny training by UK Construction Training can either be carried out at our training centre in London or, provided your premises or site has both an area for the practical training and an indoor room in which to carry out the theoretical elements of the course, we can also conduct the training at any location of your choice nationwide. A minimum of 4 delegates are required for an exclusive training course at your location.This one day course will cover the basic operation and methods involved in locating underground services, the problems and hazards to be aware of and how to determine the readings given. All courses are conducted to a high standard using computer to video projector presentation along with video presentations and supporting samples of products,tools and equipment for practical demonstrations. All those attending a course will receive a certificate of attendance along with a set of course notes and a copy of our relevant safety code of practice.
THE COURSE
Most courses start between 8.00 and 9.00am and finish at approximately 3.00 – 3.30pm. This 1 day course will provide each delegate with the knowledge needed to safely and correctly operate a Basic Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) along with a Signal Generator (GENNY) when tracing underground services. As a “hands on” training course, each delegate will be allowed sufficient time to trace and locate local underground services:· The requirements of the Regulations with respect to Detecting and Tracing Underground Services.· Reasons for using locators· Hazards arising from the use of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators and precautions which should be observed.· Identification of types of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators· Implications of damage, handling and transporting of Equipment· Inspecting, calibration and testing of equipment· The methods of safe use of pipe and cable location equipment, along with basic locating techniques· Safe working practices Upon successfully passing the written assessment at the end of the course, each delegate will be given a certificate of instruction and attendance of training.
